Cannonzone keeps as little about you as it can. You play as a guest: there is no sign-up, and to play we never ask for your email, real name, age, location or any contact details. Only if you want to make community levels do you sign in with Google (see below). This page explains everything the game does store, and why.

Your guest profile

The first time you open the game, our server creates a guest profile for you and sends your browser a random secret key that proves the profile is yours. The profile holds:

We store only a one-way hash of your secret key, never the key itself, so not even we can read it back.

What we record while you play

We use this data only to run the game: to keep your progress and coins, to sell you skins for coins, and to keep the game fair. We don't sell it, share it with advertisers, or use it to build a profile of you.

Community levels

When you play levels made by other players, we also record:

Your plays and votes may later be used to recommend levels you might like, inside the game only. Other players see only totals (how many played, cleared, liked), never who did.

Signing in to make levels

To make community levels you sign in with Google in the level editor. That links your Google account to your guest profile, and we store:

Your player name is shown with the levels you publish. Signing in loads Google's sign-in script in the editor, so Google sees that you signed in to Cannonzone; see Google's privacy policy. Signing in on another device with the same account gives you the same profile there.

Your IP address

When you create a guest profile, the server looks at your IP address to limit how many new profiles can be made from one place in an hour. That check happens in memory and the address is not saved to our database. Our hosting provider may keep standard request logs, as every web host does.

Stored on your device

The game saves a few things in your browser's local storage so it can start quickly and work offline. They stay on your device:

What Why
Your guest key Keeps you signed in to your guest profile.
A copy of your profile Shows your coins and skins before the server answers.
Coins waiting to sync Coins you pick up offline, sent to the server once you're back online.
The level list Lets the game start fast and play offline.
Community plays waiting to sync Community levels you played or cleared, sent to the server once you're back online.
Your editor sign-in The Google email you signed in with in the level editor, so it stays signed in.
Your best times Your best run on each level, and which levels are unlocked.
Sound on/off Remembers whether you muted the game.

We don't use cookies, analytics, ads or any third-party trackers. The game makes no requests to anyone but our own server; the level editor also talks to Google when you sign in.

Keeping or removing your data

Your guest profile is tied to the key saved in this browser. If you clear your browser's site data, the key is gone and so is your access to that profile: you start fresh as a new guest, and the old profile can no longer be used. If you signed in with Google, signing in again gets the profile back. If you'd like your profile and everything recorded for it deleted from our server, contact us and we'll remove it, together with the levels you made.

Changes

If the game starts collecting something new, for example if we add real-money purchases, we'll update this page before that happens and change the date at the top.
